Are you stuck in a sexless marriage? Do you and your partner have mismatched sexual desires? Are you having performance issues? Do you not feel emotionally connected anymore? Or maybe you want to spice up your love life, but you or your partner isn’t interested.
If sexual issues are preventing true closeness between you and your partner, you may want to consider sex therapy.
Sex is a natural and vital part of any healthy relationship. However, sexual problems can arise due to several reasons, such as fatigue, lack of intimacy, lack of trust, infidelity, communication problems, resentment, and conflicts. The good news is most of these challenges can be resolved with the help of effective sex therapy.
Too many couples and individuals suffer in silence for years when a short-term treatment can actually rebuild their sexual satisfaction with themselves or their partners. If something is not right or your sex life isn’t as enjoyable as it used to be, don’t be ashamed to speak out. Professionals like me are always ready to lend a listening ear to help you get through your sexual problems.
My Approach to Sex Therapy in San Diego
I believe that each person is unique and multifaceted. There is no one way to approach sexual health. Sexuality is an important part of what makes us whole and human. I use a sex-positive framework where I neither condone nor condemn sexual activity or frequency. I instead make room for sexual expression to take place however that may look and try to understand the purpose it plays in the lives of each individual and their relationships.
As a sex therapist, I focus on the physical relationship between people and the relationships they are in, then identify each person’s attitudes about sex who is involved in the relationship and the sexual problem.
Common topics addressed in my sex therapy San Diego sessions include:
- Sex and Intimacy challenges
- Coping with STIs and STDs
- Desire discrepancies
- Reconnecting with yourself and/or partner(s) after a negative sexual experience
- Coping with sex and chronic illness or pain
- Difficulty enjoying sex
- Sexual trauma or trauma affecting sexuality
Specific objectives may include the following:
- Learning to eliminate and relax distractions
- Learning to communicate what you’d like in a positive way
- Learning nonsexual touching techniques
- Increasing or enhancing sexual stimulation
- Minimizing pain during intercourse
This type of therapy does not include any type of touch (sexual or otherwise) and is strictly talk therapy. Meeting you where you are while also compassionate addressing your needs in this department is my top priority.
